Russian prosecutors accuse Slavyanka and REU branches of multiple violations
KHABAROVSK. Dec 6 (Interfax) - The Far East and East Siberia branches of companies Operations and Maintenance Department (REU) and Slavyanka, both Russian Defense Ministry sub-contractors, are not fulfilling their functions properly, Military Prosecutor of the Eastern Military District Artur Yegiyev told Interfax on Thursday.
"In 2012, detectives from the Military Prosecutor's Offices in the Far East and the Transbaikal Territory uncovered more than 900 irregularities in the housing and utilities sectors. More than 600 of these were committed by heads of the branches of OJSC Slavyanka and OJSC REU. Prosecutors submitted more than 120 documents in response. Five documents were forwarded to the Defense Ministry and Oboronservice," he said.
The number of violations in the housing and utilities sector has kept growing in the past four years, Yegiyev said.
"The work of outsourcing companies, which replaced the system of apartment management services in the Armed Forces, gets worse year after year. In comparison with 2009, the number of violations in the housing and utilities sector has almost tripled," the military prosecutor said.
