Ukrainian on North Sea shipwreck's death toll - Foreign Ministry
KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax) - The crew of a cargo ship that sank in the North Sea before dawn on Tuesday evening after colliding with a container ship included two Ukrainians, one of whom was killed in the accident, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday, citing Dutch coast guards.
The Ukrainian who died in the shipwreck, which occurred off the Dutch coast, had served as an electrician aboard the Baltic Ace. His body was taken to Belgium, ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dikusarov said.
The other Ukrainian was rescued and hospitalized in Rotterdam.
Ukraine's embassy in the Netherlands is trying to find out more about the accident, in which four of the Baltic Ace's 24 crew members were killed and seven others went missing.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry "is keeping this situation under special control," Dikusarov said.
