No tsunami threat for Russia's Kamchatka - emergencies ministry
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Dec 7 (Interfax) - A tsunami alert has not been issued for Russia's Kamchatka following a powerful earthquake off the eastern coast of Japan's Honshu Island.
"There is no tsunami threat for Kamchatka," local emergencies service spokesperson Yulia Ananyeva told Interfax on Friday.
A 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Honshu Island on Friday, U.S. seismologists have reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 30 kilometers in the Pacific Ocean.
The quake was felt in Tokyo, located several hundred kilometers southwest of the epicenter.
A tsunami warning was issued for the Miyagi Prefecture.
