Russia imports 4.7% more from non-CIS countries in Jan-Nov
MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - Imports to Russia of merchandise from non-CIS countries grew 4.7% year-on-year in January-November 2012, shows a weekly socioeconomic monitoring report from the Economic Development Ministry, which cites preliminary customs statistics.
The actual physical volume of imports in the 11 months is not specified.
Imports in November amounted to $24.54 billion, down 5.7% on October.
Imports from non-CIS countries climbed 1.7% year-on-year in November 2012.
Food imports climbed 4.4% year-on-year in November, imports of textiles and footwear rose 4.5% and chemicals - 2.5%. Imports of engineering products remained at the November 2011 level.
In food imports, there was an 18% jump for vegetables, 13.5% for sugar, 10.7% for vegetable oil, 6.3% for alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, 5.5% for fruit, 4.4% for fish, 3.6% for dairy products and 3% for meat and offal. Imports fell 25.8% for grain and 1.1% for tobacco.
Imports surged 16.1% for perfumes and cosmetics, 11.5% for polymers and rubber, 11.1% for soap and detergents, 8.3% for organic and non-organic chemicals, while imports of pharmaceuticals fell 9.8%.
Russia imported 17.9% more finished textiles, 14% more cotton, 11.2% more knitted fabric, 11% more footwear, 3.5% knitted garments, 1.9% for chemical fibers and 1% for textile materials, while imports dropped 17.1% for man-made yarn and 5.3% for textile clothing.
Russia imported 19.1% less aircraft, 7.9% less vehicles, 3.5% less vessels and 2.7% less mechanical equipment. Imports surged 140% for locomotive parts, 28% for optical instruments and devices and 3.4% for electrical equipment.
