Clinton's presidential ambitions could be behind her concern over "sovietization" of post-Soviet space - source

MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - Concern expressed by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the danger of the "sovietization" of Eastern Europe and Central Asia suggests that she probably wants to continue her political career, a high-ranking source in Moscow told Interfax on Monday.

"Hillary Clinton's tough statements about the alleged threat of the 'sovietization' of Eastern Europe and Central Asia and the need to counter the Eurasian economic integration probably stems from her desire to set off on her own political voyage with the year 2016 (the next presidential election in the U.S.), as her destination" the source said.

"She has apparently decided to outline her political creed, sending a signal that she intends to be tougher than Obama in relations with Moscow. If so, she should have resigned earlier, so long as she disagrees with her boss's line. But perhaps her statements are merely a missfire from an ill-chosen political style," the source said.
