New missile defense technologies could appear in Russia - deputy defense minister

MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has developed new technologies that, should such a need arise, could be applied to missile defense systems guarding both Moscow and other regions, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Oleg Ostapenko told the country's news agencies.

Asked by Interfax-AVN about the prospects for replacing Moscow's A-135 missile defense shield, Ostapenko said that "there are new developments that could be realized within quite a short period of time."

"You will possibly be informed about it shortly," he added.
