Punishment of illegal migration must be tightened - Putin

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Facilitated entry of certain categories of people to Russia should be accompanied with stricter punishment of illegal migration, President Vladimir Putin said in the state-of-the-nation address presented at the parliament.

"I think it would be grounded and necessary to tighten punishment of illegal migration and violations in migrant registration," he said.

Amendments to the effect have been submitted to the State Duma. "I request deputies to adopt these laws," he said.
