Claas to start building second section at Kuban combine plant in 2013
KRASNODAR. Dec 13 (Interfax) - German company Claas plans to start building the second section of a combine plant in the Krasnodar Territory worth 120 million euro in 2013, the region's Agricultural Ministry said on Thursday.
The ministry said in a statement that preliminary work on the second section started in 2010 with the acquisition of a site. The company finished design work in 2012. Construction work will start in spring 2013 and last until 2015.
The enterprise's capacity after expansion will double to 2,000 combines a year. "After completion of the second section, total equipment production at the plant will increase. The production line will be expanded and production of the majority of components will be localized," the statement said.
Investment in the construction of the facility's first section came to 20 million euro. The plant currently produces an entire model line of Tucano grain combines. The company also assembles Axion 850 and Xerion 3300/3800 tractors. The second section will include a metalwork department (pattern cutting, bending and welding), a painting department and an assembly line.
The company also plans to invest in the creation of new educational centers and spare parts warehouses in various Russian regions.
LLC Claas in Krasnodar is the German company's sole enterprise in Russia.
