Medvedev to visit Brazil in February
MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has accepted an invitation from Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to visit Brazil during its annual carnival in February.
Medvedev would attend a meeting of a Russian-Brazilian high-level governmental commission during his visit.
"If you consider it possible to visit Brazil during our traditional festival, the Brazilian carnival, I think it will be a significant fact," Rousseff said during a meeting with Medvedev in Moscow on Thursday.
"Thank you for the invitation. I think we have every reason to carry through with such an event," Medvedev said in reference to the commission meeting. "It's being planned for February. Thank you also for your invitation to see the carnival, this would be very interesting."
Medvedev suggested putting together a "roadmap" for the commission meeting.
"Russian-Brazilian relations are in a very good state," he said. "But this doesn't mean that we have no issues or no projects that could be motivating forces for our relations within the next few years."
Rousseff said: "We cooperate closely in the G20, BRICS and International Monetary Fund formats, and I think this interaction will help strengthen contacts, and the fact that Russia has become the chair of the G20 will seriously help achieve this."
