Udaltsov, Yashin, Sobchak detained in central Moscow

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Police have detained opposition activist Sergei Udaltsov in Ilyinsky Park near the Solovetsky Rock monument in central Moscow, where several dozens of opposition activists gathered on Saturday.

Udaltsov surrounded by journalists and wearing sunglasses appeared in the park at 3:00 p.m. He was carrying a banner saying 'Russia Will Be Free' and said he was going to hold a solitary picket.

Several policemen immediately approached him and asked him to follow them, after which they put him in a police van. He did not offer any resistance.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Gudkov, a State Duma deputy of the party A Just Russia, said on Twitter that TV host Ksenia Sobchak and Solidarity opposition group activist Ilya Yashin had been detained in the Lubyanskaya Square area.

"Yashin and Sobchak have been detained and taken away in a police van," Gudkov said.
