Second reading of bill responding to Magnitsky Act may be held in State Duma on Wednesday
MOSCOW. Dec 17 (Interfax) - The second reading of the bill responding to the Magnistky Act passed by the U.S. Senate is expected to be held in the State Duma on Wednesday, the State Duma committee on constitutional legislation and state development told Interfax on Monday.
Ivan Melnikov, first deputy speaker of the Communist Party faction of the State Duma, confirmed this information to journalists.
As to the third reading of this bill, it may be held on Wednesday or Friday, parliamentarians said.
The bill was initiated by State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin and the leaders of the four factions of the State Duma. It envisions visa and financial sanctions on U.S. citizens who have violated the rights of Russian citizens.
