No initiatives to ban U.S. adoptions of Russian children - Naryshkin
MOSCOW. Dec 17 (Interfax) - No proposals have been made in the relevant State Duma committee to ban adoptions of Russian children by U.S citizens, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin replied to an Interfax question on Monday.
"No amendments to the effect have been submitted to the committee," he said.
According to State Duma sources, a group of deputies is preparing an amendment that will ban on U.S. adoptions of Russian children, for the second reading of the Russian response to the Magnitsky Act.
The State Duma passed the bill in the first reading last week with the support of all parliamentary factions. Speaker Naryshkin and faction leaders - Vladimir Vasilyev, Gennady Zyuganov, Sergei Mironov and Vladimir Zhirinovsky - initiated the draft.
The Constitutional Legislation and State Development Committee will hear amendments to the bill at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
The second reading is due on Wednesday, and the bill may be passed in the third and final reading this week.
