Matviyenko speaks against rushing bill banning adoption of Russian children by Americans
MOSCOW. Dec 19 (Interfax) - Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko believes that the State Duma is in an unjustified rush to pass a bill that will bar Americans from adopting Russian children.
"One should not be guided by emotions. The issue is very important and requires thorough study. All the pros and cons should be weighed and the decision made in a cool state of mind, without emotions. One should not get too excited," she told journalists on Wednesday.
At the same time she said that "the absolute majority of Federation Council members support the need for reply measures."
Matviyenko said she meant support for the bill passed by the State Duma in the first reading.
