Transneft calls for technical recommendations for refineries using Vankor oil
MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transneft is proposing that the Energy Ministry call a technical meeting to issue recommendations to oil refineries that work with oil from the Vankor field to change the production technology for a number of oil products, the company's vice president, Igor Katsal told reporters.
He said Vankor oil contains asphalt and resin substances that negatively affect production of jet fuel.
"Vankor oil is an anomaly - it's low in sulphur but in terms of density falls in the second category, with heavy oil," Katsal said.
Jet fuel produced from Vankor oil leaves a larger amount of soot after burning, he said.
