Putin promises to check anti-Magnitsky bill's correspondence with adoption treaty

MOSCOW. Dec 20 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin has not read the so-called "anti-Magnitsky bill" passed by the State Duma in the second reading. He thinks the bill should be checked for correspondence with the Russian-U.S. adoption treaty.

"I have not read this law. I need to see it before deciding what will happen to the children whose adoptions have been authorized," he told a Thursday press conference in Moscow.

"I need to see the text of this law. The treaty is still valid. And we need to see how the law comes together with the international treaty," Putin said.
