Russian Technologies mulling strategic investor, IPO for helicopter unit
MOSCOW. Dec 21 (Interfax) - The state Russian Technologies (Rostekhnologii) corporation is thinking of bringing a strategic investor into OJSC Russian Helicopters, the state corporation's chief, Sergei Chemezov, said at a presentation of the corporation's new brand.
"At first we planned one in London, but I don't know now. Maybe on the Asian exchanges, it all depends on the market," Chemezov said, when asked to comment on a possible IPO by Russian Helicopters.
Asked whether a strategic investor might be brought in, he said "we're thinking about it," but he did not name any names.
Reports have said Russian Helicopters might hold an IPO in the spring of next year. It almost held one in London in the spring of 2011, valuing itself at $1.8 billion-$2.4 billion. It planned to offer up to $500 million in shares, $250 million of them new shares.
