Putin to visit India on Dec 24 - Kremlin

MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Russia President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to India on December 24 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Kremlin press service reported on Monday.

"It is expected that the parties will discuss certain steps on the further development of Russian-Indian strategic partnership in the trade, economic, investment, military and technical, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres," the press service said in a statement.

The parties will also "exchange opinions on topical issues on the regional and international agendas. A number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed," it said.

Russian-Indian trade grew 30% in January-October 2012 compared to the same period last year.

Russia and India celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2012.

The two countries closely cooperate in the United Nations, G20, BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as in the Russia-India-China and other international formats.
