Russia to develop military-technical cooperation with India - Putin
NEW DELHI. Dec 24 (Interfax) - After negotiations with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia and India intend to strengthen military-technical cooperation.
"We have reached an agreement to strengthen Russian-Indian partnership in the sphere of military-technical cooperation and promote new projects, including by creating joint ventures and technologies transfer," Putin said.
Specific steps taken in this sphere are indicated by the contracts for the supply of helicopter equipment and technological systems for plane assembly signed on Monday, Putin said.
Putin also pointed out the development of cooperation in other spheres, including energy, investment, and technological cooperation.
Putin reiterated that high-tech products accounts for most of the structure of the trade turnover.
"In 2011, trade turnover reached $9 billion. This year, it will exceed $10 billion, and we have reached an agreement to double it in the next few years," Putin said.
