Critical remarks about anti-Magnitsky Act bill sent to President Putin - council head
MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The Kremlin Human Rights Council pointed out flaws of the anti-Magnitsky Act bill, which was recently adopted by the State Duma and approved by the Federation Council, in a letter to President Vladimir Putin.
"Our experts have forwarded their conclusion to the president in order to draw his attention to all details of this bill that fail to meet the constitution, including its passage procedure," council chairman Mikhail Fedotov told Interfax on Friday.
"We have uncovered multiple contradictions and gaps inside the bill dealing with adoption of orphans and the activities of non-governmental organizations," he said.
"In our opinion, it would be advisable for the president, as he decides the fate of this bill, to simultaneously issue a decree outlining priority measures to improve the situation with orphaned children," Fedotov said.
