Media claims of violations in Uglich orphanage being probed

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - Investigators are looking into living conditions in an orphanage located in the town of Uglich in the Yaroslavl region, Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Thursday.

"The director of the Russian Investigative Committee ordered investigative agencies in the Yaroslavl region to conduct an inquiry into media reports alleging serious violations in the Uglich orphanage," he said.

"Investigators are looking into claims of child abuse and inspecting the living conditions there and the spending of sponsors' aid. A procedural decision will be adopted based on the results of the investigation," Markin said.
