Red Wings won't give up Tu-204 airliners

MOSCOW. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Red Wings airlines do not intend to give up the use of Tupolev Tu-204 airliners after the Saturday crash at Moscow's Vnukovo airport.

"Red Wings airlines do not intend to give up the operation of Tu-204 aircraft," a company statement on Twitter says.

"Tu-204 is one of the most reliable aircraft complying with all Russian and international aviation requirements," Red Wings added.

The airlines also noted that their representatives are staying at Vnukovo. "Reports that company representatives are absent from the airport are untrue," the posting says.

Earlier reports said that a Tu-204 of Red Wings airlines rolled beyond the landing strip at Vnukovo airport Saturday evening and fell apart. There were eight crewmembers aboard. Five of them, including the captain, died and three remain in hospital. Only the crew was aboard.
