SOCAR ups Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline oil exports 0.6% in 2012

BAKU. Jan 9 (Interfax) - State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) exported 2,000,064 tonnes of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline last year, 0.6% more than in 2011, company sources told Interfax.

Oil exports through this pipeline ran to 167,003 tonnes in December.

The company exported 1,243,742 tonnes of oil products last year, 14.2% less than the year before.

Exports of automotive gasoline amounted to 60,142 tonnes, of diesel fuel to 921,570 tonnes, of aviation fuel to 145,980 tonnes, of fuel oil to 3,023 tonnes, and of vacuum gas oil to 113,027 tonnes.

SOCAR exported 138,144 tonnes of oil products in December alone, including 81,285 tonnes of diesel fuel, 24,560 tonnes of aviation kerosene, 1,985 tonnes of automotive gasoline, 179 tonnes of furnace oil, and 30,135 tonnes of vacuum gas oil.

SOCAR's exports along the Baku-Supsa pipeline grew 3.4% last year to 2.742 million tonnes, including 161,607 tonnes in December.

SOCAR also published its report for 2011 on January 8. It reports capital investments of AZM 1.276 billion for the year, down 1.4% from 2010. Actual capital expenditures turned out 4.4% more than planned.

Drilling costs amounted to AZM 398.8 million - including AZM 49.1 million for exploratory drilling, AZM 1.4 million for geological prospecting work, AZM 595.8 million for construction, and AZM 261.6 million for equipment not requiring installation.

Capital investment in Azneft came to AZM 713.2 million, in Azerigaz - AZM 230 million, in Azerkhimia - AZM 3.6 million, in the oil refinery Azerneftyag - AZM 5.75 million, in Baku Oil Refinery - AZM 42.7 million, in Azerbaijan Gas Refinery - AZM 7.1 million, in SOCAR's Complex Drilling Works Trust - AZM 33 million, in the Caspian oil flotilla - AZM 24.258 million, and the rest of the money in other company enterprises.

According to the report, the company's main funds contributed AZM 1.024 billion (down 11.6% from 2010).

Capital overhaul expenses rose 3.8% to AZM 452.27 million (23.1% more than planned). Socially-oriented facilities received AZM 210.4 million, or 46.5%.

Expenses involved in repairs at Azneft amounted to AZM 96.347 million last year, at Azerigaz - AZM 78.6 million, at Azerkhimia - AZM 6 million, at Baku Oil Refinery - AZM 15.5 million, at Azerneftyag - AZM 15.3 million, and at Azerbaijan Gas Refinery - AZM 4.453 million.

Azerbaijan has been transporting its oil by pipeline to Novorossiysk since 1997. Exports ran to 1,988,429 tonnes in 2011.

The Baku-Supsa pipeline, capacity 7.5 million tonnes per year, was built for the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) project and commissioned in April 1999. It carried 2.7 million tonnes of oil in 2011.

Azerbaijan has two oil refineries - Azerneftyag and the Heydar Aliyev refinery in Baku - with combined processing capacity of 22 million tonnes per year. They are both part of SOCAR.
