Former Energy Ministry dept chief takes reins at NOVATEK subsidiary

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Viktor Solovykh, the former head of the Energy Ministry department for the extraction and transportation of oil and gas, has been tapped for general director at NOVATEK subsidiary OJSC Tambeineftegaz, NOVATEK materials say.

NOVATEK, Russia's biggest independent gas producer, purchased Tambeineftegaz in July of 2010. The company holds the license to the Malo-Yamalskoye gas field, with its reserves of 161 billion cubic meters (bcm), and was bought for $10 million.

Tambeineftegaz's balance sheet reflected production infrastructure for operations at the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye deposit (1.3 trillion m3 of gas), the license to which is now held by OJSC Yamal LNG.

The Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye field is located to the north of the Yamal peninsula and will become the site for a natural gas liquefaction plant. The Malo-Yamalskoye deposit is in the southern part of the peninsula in the region of the Kamenny promontory, not far from Gazprom's under-construction trunk gas pipeline Bovanenkovo-Ukhta.
