Russian Prosecutor General's Office demands Rosnedra suspend jade mining rights in Buryatia

MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has demanded the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources (Rosnedra) to suspend jade mining rights in Buryatia, Office spokesperson Marina Gridneva told Interfax on Thursday.

"The Prosecutor General's Office has demanded Rosnedra to suspend the mining rights because of violations of license terms by mineral developers," Gridneva said.

In her words, "It became known in the course of measures taken towards de-criminalization of jade mining that Rosnedra held nine jade mining auctions in Buryatia in 2011."

"Yet auction results were repealed, and the mining rights were terminated," she added.
