Several dozen people picket against "Dima Yakovlev law" in Yekaterinburg
YEKATERINBURG. Jan 13 (Interfax) - A picket against "the Dima Yakovlev law" that bans the adoption of Russian children by U.S. citizens among other things was held in Labor Square, Yekaterinburg, on Sunday, its organizer Alexander Bychkov told Interfax.
"Despite the wind and frost (-15 degrees Centigrade), some 100 people turned up," he said adding that participants in the action permitted by the city administration included members of Yabloko and PARNAS parties and Memorial association.
He said their main demand was the abolition of the law which, in the opinion of the protesters, is directed against Russian citizens.
"It is good that the issue troubles people and that matters that should arouse discontent arouse it, namely the fact that children are used in political games," Bychkov said.
Meanwhile, at the Yekaterinburg police Interfax was told that some 60 people came to the square and that there were no breaches of law and order.
