Ukraine to give priority to frozen conflicts during presidency of OSCE
CHERNIVTSI, Ukraine. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Frozen conflicts, including the Transdniestrian settlement, will be given priority during Ukraine's presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara.
"Undoubtedly, priority attention will be given to the frozen conflicts. Transdniestrian settlement has a special place in this context," he said at a news conference after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Sunday.
Ukraine borders on this region, he said.
"I will visit Moldova soon as OSCE president. It will also be a bilateral visit. We plan to intensify the entire settlement process in this region and we discussed this issue at length with the Russian side today," Kozhara said.
Russia and Ukraine, as the two main mediators in the settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict, and as the countries that are interested in this most, must cooperate on this track, he said.
