Russia ups wheat exports 18% to 15.3 mln tonnes in 11M 2012

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Russia boosted exports of wheat and meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye) by 18% year-on-year to 15.292 million tonnes in January-November 2012, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) reported on Monday.

These grains were sold for a combined $4.3 billion.

In the same 11 months of 2011, Russia exported 12.96 million tonnes of wheat and meslin for $3.1 billion. Grain exports started only on July 1 of 2011, after the cancellation of the grain embargo, which had been in force since August 15 of the previous year.

This year, as in previous years, Russia will deliver the lion's share of wheat (14.8 million tonnes) to countries outside of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
