Two Hizb-ut-Tahrir members will be tried for extremist propaganda in Bashkortostan
UFA. Jan 16 (Interfax) - The prosecutor's office of Bashkortostan has approved the indictment of two members of a terrorist organization charged with organizing operations of an extremist cell in the republic, the press service of the office reported on Wednesday.
Investigators say 40-year-old Ural Delmukhametov and Rinat Zarbeyev, both with a record of sentences for a similar crime, set up a cell of the banned international terrorist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir in the town of Davlekanovo.
From the beginning of 2009 and through October 2011, the defendants campaigned "to abet residents of Ufa in joining the criminal organization and, appealing to their religious feelings, organized and conducted studies of the writings of the terrorist organization," the report says.
It says Delmukhametov planned and controlled Zarbayev's work; Zarbayev disseminated extremist literature and conducted secret meetings and lessons in order to recruit Muslims to the cell.
During the pre-trial investigation the defendants denied the charges.
The case has been sent to justice of peace of Davlekanovo district for consideration.
