Further economic modernization impossible without investment - Ukrainian president

KYIV. Jan 17 (Interfax) - A better investment climate in Ukraine is key to implementing reforms inside the country, President Viktor Yanukovych said.

"The main driving force behind our work should be steps to seriously improve the investment climate by means of qualitatively new regulation in all sectors of the economy," he said at a session of the Economic Reforms Committee in Kyiv on Thursday.

Further economic modernization is impossible in the absence of investment activity, he said.

"We all know very well that without investment any modernization is actually out of the question. It will be just empty promises," the president said.
