Samruk-Energy generates 8% more electricity in 2012

ASTANA. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Power plants operated by Kazakhstan's JSC Samruk-Energy generated 14.528 billion kWh of electricity in 2012, 8% more than in 2011, the company says in a press release.

An increase in power output was reported at JSC Moinak Hydro, JSC Zhambyl State District Power Plant and JSC Ekibastuz State District Power Plant-2, the press release says.

Electricity sales grew 6% to 5.626 billion kWh, and transmission %% to 8.395 billion kWh.

In 2012 the coal output by BogatyrKomir LLP amounted to 44 million tonnes, or a decrease of 8% from a year earlier.

JSC Samruk-Energy, organized in 2007, is part of the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna.

The company specializes in generation, distribution and sales of electricity and heat as well as coal production.

The installed capacity of Samruk-Energy's power plants is 7,670.9 MW which accounts for nearly 40% of the total generation capacity of Kazakhstan.

According to preliminary information, Samruk-Energy's net profit grew 20.3% last year to 17.955 billion tenge (150.65/$1 on Jan. 21).

Consolidated revenue rose 15% to 100.85 billion tenge.
