Ukrainian parliamentarians persuade protesters to stop action near Presidential Administration

KYIV. Jan 22 (Interfax) - Parliamentarians Borys Tarasyuk and Andriy Shevchenko (Batkivshchyna) have convinced the protesters who chained themselves to the fence around the Ukrainian Presidential Administration to stop the action.

"We have persuaded the guys that their health is more important. Borys Tarasyuk and I cut the chains. The guys are warm already," Shevchenko tweeted.

"We admire the guys' courage. We share their demands. We will work on their fulfillment, but not at the expense of patriots' health," he said.

Several participants in the protest titled "Down with Political Perverts" chained themselves to the Presidential Administration fence in the afternoon of January 21. They demanded the immediate end to political repressions, torture and absurd falsifications of criminal cases and the urgent release of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and other political prisoners.

Shevchenko said that one of the protesters felt unwell on Tuesday morning.
