Storm at Novorossiysk could prevent oil shipments Jan 22 - Transneft

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - A storm at the port of Novorossiysk will probably prevent oil shipments from taking place on January 22, Igor Dyomin, spokesman for pipeline operator Transneft , told Interfax.

"The storm continues. They managed to load another tanker with 80,000 tonnes last night and this has set sail. But it doesn't look like they'll be able to today, the wind is too strong," Dyomin said.

He said four tankers were at anchor just outside the port but that the weather was not expected to improve until January 24.

Dyomin said shipments would probably be behind schedule for the month as a whole due to the poor weather but that the gap might be bridged in February.

Meanwhile, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) told Interfax that oil continues to be shipped from its terminal in Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka near Novorossiysk. Single point mooring makes it possible to continue sending out oil in tankers, even when the weather is bad.
