IKEA boosts sales in Russia 29% in 2012 financial year

MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Swedish furniture and home furnishings giant IKEA increased its sales in Russia 29% during the last financial year (September 2011 to August 2012), a company press release says.

This moved the company's Russian subdivision into IKEA's top-five highest sellers worldwide. The Mega superstores belonging to IKEA were visited by 254 million people. Sales by the lessees increased 19% by volume.

The company is not revealing the natural sales figures for Russia.

IKEA has been a presence in Russia since 2000. It operates through LLC IKEA House, which manages IKEA outlets, and LLC IKEA Mos, which manages Mega stores. There are now fourteen IKEA stores in Russia, three of which are located in Moscow.
