Russia intends to initiate dialogue on reducing budget deficits of G20 members
DAVOS. Jan 24 (Interfax) - During its G20 presidency, Russia intends to promote an agreement to reduce the budget deficits of member countries.
"In the G20 we will conduct a dialogue on countries assuming medium-term commitments to gradually reduce their debt burden and deficit," the Russian G20 Sherpa Ksenia Yudaeva told reporters.
At the same time, she noted that no specific timeframes or specific deficit reduction figures are being offered up yet.
Yudaeva added that these figures might be individual for different countries.
"The most important is that this should be a clear scheme," she said.
"Russia, as the president of the G20, will propose this topic, and we very much expect to arrive at some sort of decision," Yudaeva said.
