Russian armed forces to get Department for Culture - source
MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry is setting up a vertically structured culture department for the first time in its history, a source familiar with the situation told Interfax-AVN.
"This new department will partially take in the staff of the Main Personnel Department," the source said.
"All of the founding documents have been prepared," he added.
"The Defense Ministry will have a culture department, for the first time ever, that will be responsible for servicemen's cultural development and recreation," the source said.
The department will be vertically structured from ministry to regiment (naval crew) inclusive, and all officer, soldier and naval clubs, and other cultural centers in the armed forces will be subordinated to it," he said.
The new agency will take up part of the functions and employ part of the staff of the Main Personnel Department, he said. "These functions will have to do with servicemen's cultural development and recreation, with officer and soldier clubs, with military museums and libraries, and with their funding," the source said.
