First out of 10 Il-76 aircraft bought by China sent to customer

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian arms export agency Rosoboronexport and the Ilyushin aircraft manufacturer have started sending Il-76MD military transportation aircraft bought by China to that country.

"The first out of the ten Il-76MD military transportation aircraft bought by China was sent to the customer the other day," a source with the Russian defense industry told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

The contract envisions the sale of not new aircraft, but those earlier operated by various military and civil organizations.

"Before being shipped to China, all aircraft will undergo the necessary maintenance and minor modernization and will also be painted in white and blue colors," he said.
