Putin urges new approaches to global economy tasks of Russia
MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - The Russian government will have to implement economic development plans under complex circumstances, President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded government meeting on Thursday.
"We will have to execute our plans under complex conditions. Obviously, a return to the pre-crisis growth model is impossible both for Russia and the world at large," he said.
The government is discussing a draft of key activity areas in the period until 2018.
Speaking of economic growth models, the president said that the constant increase in consumption in the United States recently suffered a glitch.
Debt-burdened developed countries print money to encourage demand and the consequences of their actions are unknown, Putin said.
There are also other factors that change the world economic landscape, such as the growth of new regional markets, the shale gas revolution, technological novelties and so on, the president said.
"All that has a direct effect on our development prospects. We should not go with the flow or passively wait and see how the global economic situation develops. We should be active and search for new approaches," Putin said.
