NLMK's VIZ-Stal cuts transformer steel output 3.7% in 2012

YEKATERINBURG. Feb 1 (Interfax) - Novolipetsk Steel's (NLMK) Yekaterinburg-based unit LLC VIZ-Stal reduced transformer steel production 3.7% in 2012 to just over 164,000 tonnes.

The company said output in Q4 2012 fell 3.1% year-on-year to just over 41,000 tonnes.

The drop in output was planned while upgrades were performed to enhance steel properties.

VIZ-Stal is a leading producer of cold-rolled electrical steel and Russia's biggest grain-oriented steel producer. It exports over 80% of its output. Production capacity is 180,000 tonnes.
