Dollar edges up early on Moscow exchange

MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - The dollar edged up and the euro down as the Moscow exchange opened for business on Monday, and the ruble gained a bit of ground on the bicurrency basket.

Dollar trading began at 29.88-29.99 rubles/$1 - averaging 29.9 rubles/$1 in the first minute of trading - which was 4 kopecks over Friday close but 10 kopecks under the official Monday exchange rate.

The euro started off at 40.76 rubles/EUR1, down about 10 kopecks and 11 kopecks lower than the official exchange rate.

The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) slipped 3 kopecks to 34.79 rubles.
