Prototype of Russian-Indian 5th-generation fighter jet to appear in several years - official
BANGALORE, India. Feb 5 (Interfax-AVN) - A prototype of a Russian-Indian fifth-generation fighter jet will be developed in a few years' time, Alexander Fomin, director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technological Cooperation, said.
"Everything goes according to plan. The contract has been fulfilled strictly. The design stage is over. We are now switching to the second stage - research and development efforts. Both sides are vigorously and enthusiastically involved in the project. I see no reason to worry," Fomin told journalists ahead of the Aero India 2013 international aerospace show, which will be held in Bangalore from February 6 to February 10.
"The prototype of this aircraft will appear in several years, after which a decision on its production will be made," he said.
Asked about the current stage of a project to design a medium-sized transport airplane, Fomin said that "we are fulfilling the contracts, and everything is normal."
