Senior Education and Science Ministry official prosecuted on embezzlement charges - police

MOSCOW. Feb 5 (Interfax) - A criminal case has been opened against Academic Secretary of the Education and Science Ministry's Academic Degrees Commission Felix Shamkhaklov on suspicion of misappropriating more than 350 million rubles in Vnesheconombank loans, the Interior Ministry told Interfax.

"The 350 million rubles is a Vnesheconombank loan provided for the construction of an elite residential area," it said.

More than ten searchers have been conducted at Shamkhalov's apartment and office, the ministry said.
