Polonsky defense lawyers no longer believe in his prompt release

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - There is currently no reason to believe that Russian businessman Sergei Polonsky may be released from jail soon, the businessman's lawyer Salus Long said.

"Mr Polonsky is still in prison. Our hopes we have for his prompt release have not been fulfilled yet," Long told Interfax on Wednesday.

Polonsky will be questioned before a decision on his release is made, the lawyer said. "That has not happened yet," he said.

Polonsky and two other Russians were detained in Cambodia on December 31, 2012. They were arrested indefinitely and charged with subjecting local sailors to violence and their illegal imprisonment.
