Tele2 Kazakhstan expects 80%-90% revenue growth in 2013

ALMATY. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Tele2 Kazakhstan expects its revenues to reach $255-$270 million in 2013, up 80%-90% over 2012.

"The company's plans remain unchanged. The operator will continue expanding into Kazakhstan's mobile service market to seize a 30% market share in mid term. In 2013, Tele2 Kazakhstan expects its revenues to amount to $255-$270 million," the company said in a press release.

It is expected that the negative EBITDA will stay within a range from $30 million to $15 million in 2013. Capex is projected at $80-$100 million.

In 2012, total revenue stood at $140 million, a swooping 160% increase compared to 2011. Negative EBITDA in 2012 was $56 million, and capex totaled $111 million.

Tele2 mobile's subscriber base in Kazakhstan more than doubled in 2012, hitting 3 million users.

Tele2 Kazakhstan entered the Kazakh market in 2010 when it acquired Mobile Telecom-Service LLP, a local mobile operator. Tele2 Kazakhstan is licensed to provide SGM-900 mobile services throughout the country.

There are another two GSM mobile operators in Kazakhstan, with a population of over 16.8 million people: GSM Kazakhstan (owned by TeliaSonera) and KaR-Tel (controlled by Russia's Vimpelcom ).
