Medvedev expects Foreign Ministry to actively support domestic companies on foreign markets

MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has greeted the personnel and veterans of the Foreign Ministry on the Day of the Diplomatic Worker, the government press service reported on Sunday.

"The Foreign Ministry should be rendering more active practical support to Russian companies and organizations operating on foreign markets, promoting the implementation of major economic and investment projects. It is necessary to adopt effective and timely measures to protect the rights of Russian citizens and compatriots abroad, promote Russian language and Russian culture," the message says.

Russian diplomacy relying on the glorious traditions of serving the Fatherland is tackling important tasks of strengthening Russia's authority on the international arena, creating favorable outside conditions for the long-term development and modernization of the national economy, promoting integration within the Custom Union and Common Economic Space, Medvedev said.

"The significance of the work requiring high competence, professionalism and responsibility is great as ever in the presently complex and dynamically changing world," the prime minister said.

He expressed confidence that "the domestic diplomatic service, diplomatic and consular missions will continue working at full capacity, effectively promoting the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with partners in all continents."
