Medvedev and Niinisto note positive dynamics in Russian-Finnish relations

GORKI. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Finnish President Sauli Niinisto at their Monday meeting expressed the opinion that the climate in the relations of the two countries is growing warmer with every meeting.

"We meet regularly and this is a guarantee that Russian-Finnish cooperation will be strong, lasting, neighborly and strategic," Medvedev said.

He voiced hope that Niinisto's visit will be as useful as Medvedev's visit to Helsinki last November. "I hope that it will be accompanied by business contacts and, of course, talks at all levels," he said.

"As we found out we have the same weather, so there is no sense in acclimatization, we can get down to work at once," he said.

"I am very glad to see you, Mr. Prime Minister," Niinisto said in Russian.

"Next time I will also try to learn to say the welcoming words in Finnish. You are doing very well," Medvedev said.

Niinisto agreed with Medvedev that relations between Russia and Finland are growing warmer. "It seems that our climate has really become warmer after the meeting in November. I see that relations between our countries and our business circles are also becoming increasingly intensive. This is very positive," he said.
