Lavrov: Russia, Algeria advocate political, diplomatic settlement in Syria, Mali
ALGIERS. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Russia and Algeria share the opinion that Syria and Mali need diplomatic settlement devoid of foreign interference.
"Negotiations with (Algerian) President (Abdelaziz Bouteflika) revealed the common opinion of the need to foster a reform of international relations, primarily the focus on the rule of law, the UN and its Security Council, and settlement of conflicts with political and diplomatic methods, without foreign interference in internal affairs of sovereign states," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters after he had met with the Algerian president.
"This is our common view of the events in the Middle East and North Africa, including rather dramatic developments in Syria, Mali and other regional countries," he observed.
