Pumping of Azerbaijani oil via BTC pipeline down 7% in January
BAKU. Feb 12 (Interfax) - There was 2,577,193 tonnes of Azerbaijani oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline last month, 7.3% less year-on-year, State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) told Interfax.
"In total, since the pipeline was put into usage [June 4, 2006] to February 1, 2013, there was 208,029,007 tonnes of oil pumped through this pipeline," a SOCAR source said.
The BTC pipeline also moved 196,447 tonnes of Turkmen oil in January.
There was 2,342,357 tonnes of Azerbaijani oil shipped out of the Ceyhan oil terminal last month, bringing the total amount to 206,009,011 tonnes.
The BTC pipeline stretches over 1,768 kilometers, with 443 km in Azerbaijan, 249 km in Georgia, and 1,076 km in Turkey. Its throughput capacity is 1.2 million barrels of oil per day. The most oil put through it in a single day was 1.044 million barrels. Total throughput capacity is over 50 million tonnes per year.
