Kazakh money supply grows 7.9% in 2012
ALMATY. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's money supply grew 7.9% to KZT 10.522 trillion (almost $70 billion), the National Bank of Kazakhstan said.
The money supply grew 0.5% month-on-month in December.
The volume of cash in circulation increased 11.9% in 2012 and 10.7% month-on-month in December to KZT 1.528 trillion and deposits in banks increased 7.2% for the year but decreased 1% for the month to KZT 8.994 trillion.
The country's monetary base increased 1.9% last year and 7.6% month-on-month in December to KZT 2.890 trillion. The narrow monetary supply (not counting commercial-bank term deposits with the National Bank grew 3.3% in 2012 and 7% in December to KZT 2.831 trillion.
