Alekperov to talk shelf projects with Petrobras at end-Feb

NOVO-OGAREVO. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The CEO of Russian oil major LUKOIL , Vagit Alekperov plans to discuss in Brazil possible shelf projects off that country's coast late this month.

"In [the final third] of February, I will take a trip where I will be meeting with the management of Petrobras and other participants in projects on the shelf. We don't have any specific projects for investment at this point, and we will be looking," Alekperov told the press.

Ten years ago, Lukoil's foreign-project upstream operator Lukoil Overseas underwent license tender qualification for Brazilian shelf blocks. The company was awarded category 'A - Operator' status.

Rosneft is also planning to study in the near future the prospects for operating off the Brazilian coast.

According to Brazil's National Oil and Gas Agency, in the 11th licensing round the plan is to put up 289 oil and gas blocks, including shelf blocks. Documents for prequalification are being accepted until March 26, and the results are planned to be announced April 10. The actual dealing is slated for May.
