Emergency Situations Ministry stays tuned for meteorite event
MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Centrospas and Leader task forces of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry have been alerted over the meteorite event in the Chelyabinsk region, ministry spokesperson Irina Rossius told Interfax.
"The Emergency Situations Ministry rapidly created a crisis management system. A governmental commission will meet soon under the chairmanship of Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov," she said.
The civilian population is being updated. Eight aircraft are conducting constant aerial monitoring.
"The ministry asks local residents not to approach or touch suspicious objects, but to make a call to operative services," Rossius said.
